Sea Pride Canned Products
Our cannery in St Helena Bay produces canned pilchards in tomato and chilli sauce, both in 215g and 400g cans.
After canning, the product is tested for quality – a thorough process that takes between 3 weeks and a month, before being labelled for the various customers. After labelling, the best before date is ink jetted onto the cans and the cans are then shrinkwrapped into packs of 12 (for 400g cans) and 24 (for 215g cans) units.
The packs are subsequently palletised automatically before being adequately wrapped and prepared for storage.
Sea Pride provides high quality canned fish to the school feeding sector on a national scale. This initiative supports the government’s Nutrition Programme that includes both primary and secondary schools. In this way, Sea Pride canned fish forms part of a balanced meal as determined by nutritional specialists.
The frequency of these weekly servings varies from province to province as well as from primary to secondary learners, as does the actual portion size served as part of the main meal.
You can find Sea Pride canned fish in national chain stores, independent wholesalers and selected retailers. Established distributors are utilised to make sure the cans arrive at their destination in perfect condition. Key accounts are handled directly.
Sea Pride continuously strives to minimise the impact of its factory and fishing operations on the environment. This includes protecting sea birds and dolphins, minimising the catch of immature fish and protected fish species, as well as investing in equipment for the reduction of air and water pollution.
The group complies with all environmental legislation relevant to the sectors of the fishing industry in which it is involved.
Sea Pride maintains positive relationships with the relevant authorities through cooperation and compliance and is actively involved in sector-specific organisations in the fishing industry.
